Mathematic Problems
Please read carefully, you may need to use the strategies that you know for multiplication, division, addition and subtraction to solve these problems correctly. Check the information supplied and what you are being asked to answer.
Problem 1:
Sam and his friends run a sausage sizzle at school to raise money for some sports uniforms. Each sausage costs $2. How much money do they get from each class if all the students order a sausage?
Room 1 has 29 students.
Room 2 has 35 students.
Room 3 has 19 students.
Room 4 has 21 students.
The fundraisers have to pay $6 for bread, $15 for the sausages and $3 for the tomato sauce. How much profit have they made?
The uniforms are going to cost $1350 in total . How much more money do they have to raise.?
Problem 2:
The 29 students in Room 7 have raised $750 towards their class camp. If the camp is going to cost each child $30, have they raised enough money already? If not, how much more money does the class have to raise.
Problem 3:
Ben sells 3 times as many newspapers as Matt. If Matt sells 58 newspapers, how many does Ben sell? How many newspapers do the two boys sell altogether.?
Problem 4:
Molly,Ruby,Harry and Tom earn $84 altogether from cleaning windows. They have to pay $12 for buckets, cloths and window cleaning liquid. If they share the rest of the money evenly, how much money does each person get?
Problem 5:
Sandy and two of his friends earn $75 a month altogether from doing a paper round. If they share the money equally, how much money does each person get? How much do they each earn in a year.
Once checked and shared you may be given permission to go and work through your mathletics.

Make sure you spend 15 - 20 minutes revisiting and silently reading your novel as it is a few days since we have had the opportunity to do so. Then ensure you are choosing to do assignments that suit your strengths.

INQUIRY NATURE V NURTURE
Think about the brainpop videos you have been watching and doing activities about. What are you thinking determines personality? Do you think your genes are mostly responsible, or has your upbringing played a more significant role? How much do your friends and peer pressure influence your personality? Answer the following either in a shared google doc or your inquiry book.
1: Are your personality traits similar to those of your parents? Make a list of the traits you share with your mother and those you share with your father ( or someone close you live with).
2. Do you sometimes think that you "can't help" the way you respond to certain situation? For example, do you find yourself always wanting to be on time for school events? Is this behaviour like that of one of your parents? Do you see "nature" winning out in this example? Can you think of similar examples? Can you think of situation in which "nurture" seems to win out?
3. Do your friends influence your behavior? If so how? Try to be as specific as you can.
4. Are you influenced by what you see and hear in the media? Describe the impact this has on you.
5. Are you influenced by a special adult in your life, such as a relative, a teacher, or a youth leader? How has that person helped shape your personality?
